The Administration
of a Deceased Estate

About the author...

Joop Elderkamp

The author, JW Elderkamp, is a retired financial adviser from a large insurance company. He has administered several deceased estates and decided to use the knowledge gained from his experience to produce a guide for people who have been made executor, in order to help them. It is also hoped that people writing their will might reconsider appointing a financial institution as executor and instead let one of their heirs be an executor, thereby saving the heir a large sum of money.

From the author...

"One of the guidelines in my own life is simple: ’We are in this world to help each other!’ If one is prepared to help others, then others are more often than not prepared to lend a helping hand. With the right approach, with sincerity and a smile, help and advice is often just round the corner. In many cases one of the heirs is only too willing to act as Executor, especially if by doing so a large amount of money can be saved. And if the will is there, then this guide will show the way.

When I found that books on the subject of administering a deceased estate often contain a lot of ’legalese’, I decided to write a guide, based on practical experience. I was determined to make it possible for the average person to administer an average estate. The will was there, and thanks to encouragement from friends, family and colleagues I found the way."
